Faculty Positions @Avani Institute of Design, Kozhikode
Avani Institute of Design invites applications for Assistant Professors, Associate Professors, and Full Professors in Architecture to teach undergraduate courses in one or more of the following specialty domains: architecture foundation studios; architectural design and building technology; architectural design and the humanities; and landscape architecture.
Interested applicants must meet the minimum qualifications for teaching positions as per the Indian Council of Architecture norms. Additionally, and desirably, applicants should demonstrate: a) experience with and an orientation to building critical design discourse either through creative projects or academic practice in one or more of the above listed specialty domains; b) understanding of the needs and challenges of current architectural education; c) openness in adapting to and developing socially relevant pedagogies; and d) willingness to learn from and with all members of the academic institution and beyond towards greater mutual respect, diverse mentoring roles, collaborative institution building, and responsible citizenship.

Avani Institute of Design is a Centre of Excellence in Architecture and Design education located at Thamarassery, Kerala (one hour outside Calicut at the foothills of the Western Ghats). Avani is envisioned by Architect Tony Joseph in partnership with Architect Vivek PP, Architect Vinod Cyriac, and Architect Brijesh Shaijal, and led by a highly motivated and accomplished group of academic practitioners and professional designers educated in India and abroad. Avani was founded in 2015 with the objective to nurture a space for critical discourse on the discipline and practice of architecture as well as promote diverse professional careers in and connected to architecture that could address the challenges of contemporary times. Avani aims to expand into an interdisciplinary art, architecture, and design institute whilst remaining committed to the values of social engagement and responsible citizenship.
