Description: WRI India is seeking a Research Assistant in Bengaluru, India, for a research study on the social impacts of large-scale renewable energy in India.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct extensive literature review of existing research and ongoing studies on just energy transitions, renewable energy and climate vulnerability.
- Gather information and evaluate suitability of study site(s) for the proposed research and identify the dimensions of impacts to be assessed in the study.
- Consultations with experts and local stakeholders to understand the impacts of the project on stakeholders.
- Synthesize data from primary and secondary research and conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis to understand the impacts.
- Contribute to research products, blogs, articles documenting research design, methodology, and analysis.
Educational requirements:
- Degree in social sciences (e.g.: economics, political science, sociology, anthropology, law etc.). Master’s preferred.
Experience requirements:
- 2-3 years of experience of working on research projects, preferred
Desired Skills:
- Background in renewable energy, climate vulnerability and/or energy justice is a bonus.
- Strong research skills including ability to conduct literature reviews, design and administer questionnaires or surveys, and synthesize such data and information.
- Experience of writing and using the tools like MS Office for capturing and presenting information.
- Good communications skills, willingness to engage with the team members and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Working knowledge of Kannada preferred.
