Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Program Director – Energy & Environment, the PO-EE shall be responsible for the following:
Key Roles and Responsibilities:

(A) Technical
  • Conduct research/ review and techno-economic assessment of new technologies related to energy efficiency, air pollution control, etc.;
  • Collect performance data from different industrial units and analyze the same;
  • Track the development of national as well as global policies, aimed at the reduction of conventional energy consumption and air pollution;
  • Travel to manufacturing units and other locations to conduct meetings/ interviews/ trainings/ consultations;
  • Conduct basic modelling exercises and develop spreadsheet-based tools on different energy consumption scenarios and their impact on the environment in the form of air pollutants;
  • Provide assistance for the implementation of energy efficiency and air pollution control equipment projects and supporting activities;
  • Review and analyze large data sets and prepare report briefs;
  • Carry out technical assessment of energy efficiency related projects, including performance monitoring of air pollution control equipment;
  • Work closely with the program lead for the successful implementation of energy efficiency and clean air projects and supporting other activities delegated by the supervisor, from time to time.
(B) Project Planning and Implementation
  • Conceptualize innovative ideas for the effective implementation of program activities;
  • Contribute to project implementation strategies by anticipating and analyzing risks;
  • Network, engage and manage project-related partnerships with a range of stakeholders, including relevant government organizations (e.g. BEE, State-level Energy Departments, etc.), research organizations, industries, industry associations, technology suppliers, etc.;
  • Represent ISC at public forums and communicate the organization’s vision, success stories, challenges, etc.;
  • Effectively engage and communicate project objectives and benefits to relevant stakeholders, such as government officials, distribution companies, regulatory bodies and community members, for their buy-in and approval;
  • Organize and coordinate meetings with industries, associations, and other stakeholders and take the lead in organizing stakeholder consultation workshops;
  • Plan and execute events, meetings, and other stakeholder engagement activities for the successful implementation of pilots;
  • Provide support for any other related work, as necessary.
(C) Monitoring & Evaluation
  • Ensure collection, collation, and analysis of M&E data;
  • Prepare quarterly and annual reports highlighting project progress against deliverables;
  • Prepare knowledge papers, white papers, policy notes, presentations and other relevant documents.        

Educational requirements:

  • Applicants must have a Bachelors’ degree in a relevant field of engineering 
  • Applicants with a Masters’ degree in Environmental Engineering, Public Policy, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Social-Sciences or related field, will be given preference;
  • Energy managers and auditors, certified by BEE, Govt of India, will also be given preference

Experience requirements:

  • Minimum six to 10 years of experience, in the area of energy efficiency and environment, in general, including the following:
    • At least two years of experience in conducting energy audit/ air pollution monitoring, data collection and analysis in a manufacturing set-up;
    • At least four years of experience in organizing and coordinating meetings with industries, associations and other stakeholder consultations, etc.;
    • At least two years of solid experience in documentation, producing high quality project reports, white papers/ policy papers, etc.;
  • Prior experience of developing spreadsheet-based models/ tools on work related to energy and air pollution, will be given preference;
  • Applicants with prior experience on energy and industrial air pollution related aspects shall be preferred;
  • Experience of networking with industries, industry associations and Government Departments working on energy and environment related activities, research institutions and policy makers is desirable.

Desired Skills:

  • Sound understanding of energy scenario in India, including aspects of energy economics, utilities, demand side management, clean energy, technical and regulatory aspects of energy efficiency, ESCO markets and demand aggregation;
  • Sound understanding of National Clean Air Program, air pollution mitigation strategies and technologies. Knowledge of air pollution modelling would be an added advantage;
  • Ability to establish and maintain strategic partnerships with diverse project stakeholders with diplomacy and tact;
  • Excellent writing skills with track record of writing need assessment, analysis and project performance reports;
  • Strategic thinking, project management, attention to detail, problem-solving;
  • Ability to work with global teams, with the ability to deliver results and outputs with minimal supervision;
  • Ability to work proactively and independently and collaborate with a distributed team of professionals, including consultants and matrixed staff;
  • Ability to prioritize work assignments appropriately and manage the pressure of conflicting demands;
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing priorities and the ability to meet deadlines;
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English;
  • Willingness to travel (minimum 30%), both within India and internationally;
  • Commitment to ISC’s mission and goals.
