Senior Project Associate – Electric Mobility

Description: WRI globally, has deep experience in the energy sector and on climate change across several topic areas and is widely recognized as a leader on energy and climate issues. In India, we have a multi-pronged energy strategy that looks strategically at directing our tools, research, expertise, and partnerships to support India’s clean energy transition across varied economic activities like extraction, production, distribution, consumption and waste management ; in ensuring universal access to reliable, affordable and sustainable electricity and minimizing energy losses and thereby contributing to energy planning and policy analysis.
The Energy program at WRI India is seeking a Research Analyst (UTILITY TRANSITIONS) to work with and support development of strategies for utilities’ transition in India to offering customized RE procurement options to their consumers.
Responsibilities:
- Write knowledge products (e.g., reports, briefs, data-products) – independently and in partnership with the electric mobility team
- Independently conduct quantitative and qualitative assessments of the electric vehicle market in India and globally
- Assist and / or carry out research in identified area of work including development of publication plan, research report, technical papers etc
- Support in organizing events, workshop, webinars etc. Coordinate / follow-up with internal and external reviewers for developing knowledge products
- Provide support / collaborate with other team members.
- Liaise with experts, perform analysis, produce project reports and presentations.
Educational requirements:
- Masters degree in economics, engineering, sociology, strategy, with an excellent academic track record.
Experience requirements:
- At least two years of relevant experience in energy/ power sector in a business, consulting or regulatory setting
- Strong commitment to and understanding of the environmental and socio-economic development movement and sustainability issues
- Fluency in English. Ability to converse in Hindi and other regional language(s) will be an added advantage
- Foreign nationals applying must have valid permits for work in India. .
Desired Skills:
- Prior knowledge of EV powertrain, charging infrastructure selection for different use cases, Total cost of ownership and usage analysis is a must
- Must have solid English writing skills to coherently convey complex information to a technical and policy audience
- Should have experience in writing reports, briefs, scientific papers, blogs
- Should have a good grasp on the electric mobility industry and policy landscape. Preferably, with a know-how of electric mobility related companies in India and their value chains
- Most importantly, the candidate should be willing to quickly learn new topics pertinent to electric mobility to help the team under tight timelines
- Must have strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
