Responsibilities:

    Implementation of the Green Recovery Project in close coordination with CO and State Project teams
    • Coordination of the RFF project in close coordination with the implementing verticals in the Country Office;  
    • Support programme engagement at the state level and work closely with thematic teams at Country Office and States in to implement programme activities, while collaborating with community-based organizations and private sector partners; 
    • Ensuring effective management of the Rapid Finance Facility (RFF) project and any other assigned projects by maintaining delivery of proper technical, operational, financial, and administrative outputs, while tracking the project progress through monitoring, evaluation and reporting; 
    • Support in reviewing the implementation on a periodical manner and provide suggestions on course corrections.  
    • Maintaining collaborative working relationships among key project partners and donors, through effective communication, consultation, and reporting;
    • Monitoring the progress of implementation of project activities and key event schedules observing work-plans and set deadlines including monitoring of the financial resources and accounting to ensure accuracy and reliability of financial reports;
    • Preparing project progress reports (progress against planned activities, update on risks issues, expenditures, etc.) and ensuring timely submission of the reports to the relevant instances, such as the project boards and relevant donors;
    • Support CO  in managing and coordinating implementation of the project activities aimed at unlocking private green and sustainable finance, improving ability to prepare bankable green projects, better managing of climate-related risks and all others activities based on the relevant project documents, including, as needed, supervision and guidance of other project staff, consultants, and experts with a view to achieving project results;
    Contribute to Integrated programme development, coordination and linkages with regional and global programmes  
    • Support in strategizing and designing the integrated green recovery interventions across UNDP’s programme areas; 
    • Carry out research on the emerging priorities on Green Recovery at national and sub national level, create a database and continuously on the interventions in Green Recovery in India; 
    • Support strategic programmatic engagement with key development partners at the national and state level to advocate for green recovery and financing.
    • Develop knowledge projects, relevant policy papers and communication collaterals and strategies across sectors by analyzing national and sub-national plans and development frameworks, identify emerging priorities and advise on strategic interventions for targeted and impactful response;
    • Identify opportunities and develop synergies and programme partnerships with regional and global UNDP programmes;
    • Collate lessons learnt through national and global COVID 19 green recovery programmes to feed into the programme design and draw policy lessons;
    • Assist in various programme related activities which may include (but not limited to) planning for meetings, local and national consultations, trips and other project related activities, as assigned by the authorities;
    • Participate in meetings and represent UNDP in various forums as may be required;
    • Mobilising resources for broadening and deepening the activities under the Supporting Green Recovery in India CO by developing and implementing a resource mobilization strategy for the project;
    • Any other duties as delegated by the line manager.

    Educational requirements:

    • Master’s Degree or equivalent Advanced Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Economics, Natural Sciences, Forestry, Development Studies, Environmental Economics, or a related area

    Experience requirements:

    • A minimum of five years of professional work experience in environmental or sustainable development issues in Green Growth-related programmes.  
    • Work experience in developing countries preferably in the Asia-Pacific region would be an asset.
    • Experience of providing inputs to the preparation of reports for Government Committees would be an asset. 
    • Experience of engaging with a range of stakeholders such as government agencies, scientists.
    • Team player and ability to work within tight deadlines and under pressure. 
    • Proven experience of good research writing, organising training and capacity building programmes and knowledge of thematic areas will be desired.

    • Sound analytical and presentation skills;
    • Good interpersonal and presentation skills, with an ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
    • Generate new ideas and approaches, research best practices and propose new, more effective ways of doing things.
