Research Intern – Mobility

Organization: Growth and Innovation Alliance LLP. (Gaia) 
Location: Bangalore (Preferred) / Remote Working also in consideration

Description: 
  • Support the mobility practice with research and development activities
  • Data collection and analysis for creating literature that need to be shared with  stakeholders and clients
  • Contributing to academic and public discourse around urban mobility on forums
  • Maintaining rigour of research and quality of output at all times – from designing research methodology up to final reports, videos and other output 
  • Writing articles and blogs, producing podcasts on trending topics and other areas of  research
  • Support the mobility team with drafting documents and responding to internal requests on regulations, legislation and testimony.
  • Ensuring that the project deliverables are submitted within the agreed timeline 
  • Support in the engagement with senior government officials to advocate innovative technology solutions for urban mobility.
  • Exploring avenues for research dissemination and presenting research done at the state, national and international levels .
  • Support in organizing events in line with the company strategy
  • Interpret and analyze policies, public issues, legislation, and/or the operations of governments, businesses, and organizations
  • Maintain current knowledge of government policy decisions with respect to the research subject. Evaluate programs and policies related to the subject. 
  • Reviewing and analysing media coverage, public opinion surveys and expert opinions from subject matter experts, government representatives and political consultants.
  • Develop and test theories, using information from interviews, newspapers, periodicals, case law, historical papers, polls, and/or statistical sources.
Requirements:
  • Bachelors’ degree in transportation planning, public policy, geography, business, economics, sociology, computer science, statistics, or urban planning. Master’s degree in the said areas would be a huge advantage.
  • Candidates with degrees in economics, business, sociology, computer science, and statistics, must demonstrate an interest in cities, transportation and public policy.
  • Excellent academic performance and strong analytical capability including prior experience processing large data sets is preferred. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Proficiency in any geographic information systems (GIS) software is an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in common statistics packages –SPSS, R, or similar – would be preferred.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly both orally and in writing, with excellent demonstrated skills in English. Proficiency in Kannada or Telugu (not mandatory) would be an added advantage.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented; experience managing complex processes or projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to build a strong network of professional relationships. 
  • Comfort working with staff at all levels of experience. 
  • Ability and willingness to work well in a fast-paced environment and to juggle multiple assignments with little supervision.
