Description: CEEW seeks to hire a suitable candidate for the position of Research Analyst to expand its work in the area of sustainable mobility, specifically on electric mobility.
Our mobility research spans themes including urban transport, road safety, and governance of transport. The candidate should have a strong interest in electric vehicle transition at the national and state level and in carrying out policy evaluation. Candidates looking to make a meaningful contribution towards improving public transport, non-motorised transport, electric mobility and governance of transport through research and engagement are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
- To assist in CEEW’s ongoing research on electric mobility in India. Specifically, the research will enable India to come out with targets for EV transition and evaluate policy interventions needed to address trade-offs from the transition
- To develop analysis to support the existing research programme on sustainable mobility spanning EV manufacturing policies, fleet planning, and zero emission vehicles
- To survey and analyse the research data using various data analysis software and tools
- To carry out both qualitative and quantitative research
- To publish in high-quality peer-reviewed national and international journals
- To present research to key constituencies, advisory bodies, conferences & research institutes
- Assist with specific projects and overall plan of activities under mobility research, by being an integral part of the team
- Assist in preparing presentations, fact sheets, research reports/papers and other research communication material
- Prepare national and international database of existing institutions, researchers and other important stakeholders, funding agencies, working in the domain of mobility
- Assist in effective outreach of research outputs, through close coordination with communications team, engagement with wider network of stakeholders, and concerned policymakers
- Assist and accompany senior team members for essential meetings and sessions, prepare notes, and conduct follow-ups as required
- To extrapolate and verify data provided by research analysts/programme officers, evaluate, organise and edit the data into comprehensive standard report forms
- To keep a tab on the policy developments in India and across crucial countries of the world on energy sector, transport sector, and sustainable mobility
- To generate knowledge content – blogs, policy briefs in regular intervals.
Educational requirements:
- Master’s degree with specialisation in economics, transport planning, public policy, energy or related field
- Should have a strong research background, including an understanding of experimental and analytical research
- Familiarity with public policy research techniques and tools is desirable
Experience requirements:
- Minimum 1-3 years of relevant work experience
- Strong track record of project assistance and timely delivery of outputs
- Experience in dealing with public and private institutionse
Skills:
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Experience with quantitative and qualitative research techniques
- Strong networking skills
- Ability to conduct techno-economic analysis, cost & benefit analysis, sound knowledge of sustainable mobility concepts
- Good written and oral communication skills; Good report writing skills
- Ability to use MS Office application suit including MS Excel
- Desirable: Experience with using R, Python and similar data analysis programming languages and tool
- Desirable: Relevant publications
- Ability to adapt to new environment and deliver under tight deadlines in a professional environment
- Striving for rigour in research and quality in work output
- Ability to dig deeper into details, while also keeping a sense of the broader objectives and big picture
