Position Overview: Serving as a consultant to Environmental Defense Fund (EDF), the Program Manager will play a critical role in the success of an inaugural Climate Tech Convening and its surrounding activities in India. The Convening will bring together a curated group of Indian investors, entrepreneurs, scientists and other experts to identify societal needs, share promising technologies, and reinforce the need for investments that put India on a low-carbon path to prosperity. The Program Manager will have broad-ranging responsibilities including content support, local logistics coordination, and relationship management. Working remotely in India, he/she will collaborate closely with EDF Executives, staff and consultants across a variety of disciplines in the U.S. and India, reporting to the Associate Vice President, Programs based in Washington, DC, USA. 

Responsibilities:

    • Serve as a core member and support the multi-disciplinary team spearheading this exciting event and related activities, including contributing to content development in addition to speaker and audience recruitment.
    • Develop an ambitious workplan and track progress toward execution of a high impact event, including:
      • Socializing plans with stakeholders, incorporating feedback as appropriate, and managing any change.
      • Supporting the definition of and implementing related activities that build momentum toward the event among targeted audiences (e.g., social media, blog posts, earned media).
      • Understanding and providing solutions to mitigate risks to successful execution of the event.
      • Managing to timeline and on budget.
    • Coordinate relationships between EDF staff/ consultants and external audiences in the climate tech space (e.g., investors and entrepreneurs) by:
      • Tracking relationships and next steps.
      • Suggesting and teeing up follow up as appropriate.
      • Ensuring all individuals and groups interested in the Convening and its related activities are attended to in a timely and respectful way that advances the goals of EDF/s work in India and the Convening.
    • In partnership and coordinating closely with EDF Executives, staff and consultants, support on-the-ground execution of the Convening and related activities, including:
    • Identifying and helping to retain vendors who will provide logistical support and services.
    • Providing direction to events management and other vendors and ensuring their work aligns with event goals and feel.

    Educational requirements:

    • Master's degree in business, environment, or other relevant field;

    Experience requirements:

    • 3-5 years of experience in the corporate or non-profit sectors, including demonstrated ability to manage complex projects;
    • Knowledge of the Indian investment and/or clean tech environment;
    • Ability and willingness to work with a global team across multiple time zones, including joining calls beyond normal business hours;
    • Highly effective written and oral communication skills;
    • Attention to detail and personal organization skills;
    • An ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic, and entrepreneurial environment;
    • Willingness to travel (10-20% of the time) when it is safe to do so;
    • Proficiency in the use of PCs and Microsoft Office suite.
