Description: WSP seeks an Urban Planner or Planning Technician with GIS cartographic mapping and CAD site and area plan drafting expertise to support the preparation of Urban Planning Reports. The successful candidate should have a degree or diploma in Urban Planning and/or comparable experience in Urban Planning practice. The candidate will join our Planning, Landscape Architecture and Urban Design team. This position will be responsible for managing GIS data and creating cartographic mapping using ARCGIS and QGIS, undertaking site design using AutoCAD drafting software, graphic design and layout using Adobe Creative Suite, and website content management tasks to support planning-related assignments. Reporting to a Planning Manager, this position will assist Canadian practitioners in undertaking planning assignments with a focus on interpreting planning documents, preparation of GIS map-based deliverables as well as AutoCAD drafting and 2D and 3D renderings using AutoCAD and Sketchup. The successful candidate can expect to be challenged by a variety of tasks undertaken in a fast-paced and dynamic business environment.

Responsibilities:
- Perform the roles and duties expected of an Urban Planner or Planning Technician as well as:
- Input, organize, query, maintain and quality control geo-spatial and planning-related information using a variety of software including at a minimum, Microsoft Excel and ArcGIS and QGIS software;
- Prepare cartographic maps using ArcGIS and QGIS GIS software;
- Prepare graphic deliverables to convey planning concepts; undertake drafting using AutoCAD; and/or design and maintain websites and web content and,
- Deliver quality while effectively managing time and working as part of a dynamic team and independently.
- Masters in Urban Planning;
- Masters in Urban Planning;
- 3-6 years of relevant experience;
- Candidates are expected to be able to demonstrate proficiency with ArcGIS, QGIS and the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly with Excel.
- Must be familiar with projection theory and able to efficiently reproject spatial GIS data;
- Must be proficient with ArcGIS Data Driven Pages, Feature Linked Annotation and filtering and labelling data using SQL and Python;
- Must be able to efficiently import, convert and export data for use with QGIS, ArcGIS and AutoCAD
- Candidates are expected to be able to demonstrate proficiency with ArcGIS, QGIS and the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly with statistical analysis and PivotTables in Excel.
- Must be familiar with projection theory and able to efficiently reproject spatial data;
- Must be proficient with Data Driven Pages, Feature Linked Annotation and filtering and labelling data using SQL and Python;
- Must be able to efficiently import, convert and export data for use with QGIS, ArcGIS and AutoCAD
