Project Associate / Research Associate

Responsibilities:

  • Carry-out grounded research on climate change adaptation and resilience through a politicaleconomy lens
  • Execute consultancy based projects on adaptation and resilience
  • Design and implement climate adaptation measurement and transparency frameworks 
  • Research on best practices on climate change adaptation, sustainable development and livelihoods and help compile case studies
  • Research on subnational and non-state climate adaptation and resilience efforts
  • Assist the Adaptation Futures 2020/2021 conference secretariat with the following tasks:
  • Administrative and research based support for the Adaptation Futures 2020/2021 conference Secretariat
  • Assist in planning and organizing pre-conference webinars and agenda for the main conference
  • Prepare proceedings of pre-conference webinars and the main conference
  • Co-ordinate activities of the capacity-building week during the conference
  • Communication and outreach activities (including social media) for pre-conference webinars and the main conference
  • Helping to write up project documents, working papers, journal articles and blogs
  • Provide technical input for capacity development training tools and material for regional and national stakeholders on climate adaptation 
  • Assist in preparation of blogs and discussion papers pertaining to climate change adaptation
  • Providing support to other CGER projects as and when required

Profile requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Economics, International Development/Relations, Environmental Science, Climate Science and Policy or related fields

Skills:

  • Exceptional research and writing skills
  • Prior knowledge of climate change adaptation and building resilience, and existing global, national and regional policy frameworks for low-carbon and resilient development. These include UNFCCC processes, NAPCC, SAPCC, NAP amongst others. 
  • An understanding of other economic and developmental issues plaguing India and the Global South will be an added advantage
  • Exceptional communication skills, including written and oral are essential
  • Express complex problems with brevity and preciseness and ability to articulate intertwined ideas cogently, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability and willingness to travel (extensively if required) for work to different states in India on a short notice
  • Ability to carry-out grounded, community based research work both independently and efficiently 
  • An analytical and creative mind who can come up with innovative solutions to tackle complex problems
  • Fluency in English, and atleast one regional language
