Responsibilities:
- In the assigned blocks, coordinate with various departments to promote and implement Risk communication and behavioural change program reaching out to large number people.
- Plan and organise training of front-line functionaries (sanitation workers, Swacchagrahis, local village institutions members, district and block level functionaries) to enhance their knowledge of COVID-19 prevention messages in the assigned block
- S/he will also actively represent and contribute to advocacy and capacity building work to ensure increased visibility and improved outcomes of program
- Support and guide Para Workers and swachhagrahis in hygiene promotion and effective implementation of program
- Ensure and facilitate regular implementation of Risk communication and behavioural change campaigns at the ground across the implementation area
- Facilitate convergence and leverage with various programs and departments (SBM, SSA and Health and ICDS) in the assigned block by organizing regular meetings
- Coordinate with concerned department to introduce and implement Hygiene and Behaviour Change framework and planning in project, blocks and villages
- Facilitate adoption of appropriate behaviors pertaining to Hygiene at community level.
- Support the team deployed at community level in organizing community-based campaigns on demonstration of proper handwashing practices and sanitisation at the household and community level.
- Guide and support the ground level team in organizing Hygiene and Cleanliness competitions in the villages/Blocks to promote safe and hygienic spaces.
- S/he will unlock resources outlined within flagship missions (e.g. Clean India Mission Phase II and Drinking Water Programme) to enable access to toilets, handwashing facilities and clean drinking water for target communities.
- S/he will further train and support ground-level functionaries on accessing the 15th Finance Commission Fund to prioritise WASH activities under JalJeevan Mission and Clean India Mission Phase-II
- Establishment of soap banks at critical spaces within target communities across intervention villages.
- Prepare a plan to reach out large number of community members and ensure regular organization of IPC sessions and promoting positive behaviours around hygiene.
- Support in designing and implementation of multi-pronged risk communication and behaviour change campaigns and clean competitions
- Identify best practices and document lessons learned and share learning with relevant stakeholders and area coordinator.
- Installation of foot operated hand washing stations at selected health facilities to promote hand washing with soap and monitor proper O&M of the stations.
- Undertake frequent field visit across the assigned block to gauge the progress of program, identify challenges, on site mentoring and support to the ground team in effective implementation of the program
- Carry out any other additional duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Area Coordinator from time to time.
Educational requirements:
- A degree in rural development or social sciences with 3-4 years of experience in Water and Sanitation or
- postgraduate degree/ diploma with specialization in Water and Sanitation work from recognised institute.
Experience requirements:
- Strong communication skills – both written and verbal – are required.
- Experience of working on SBM program and working with education and Panchayat Raj, health ICDS department at district and block level is required along with strong community mobilization skills and understanding of participatory methods and experience of working with CBOs.
