Responsibilities:

  • Support and guide BCC coordinators and Para Workers in hygiene promotion and effective implementation of program
  • Support in designing regular implementation of Risk communication and behavioral change campaigns across the implementation area
  • Support the team deployed at block and community level in organizing community-based campaigns on demonstration of proper handwashing practices and sanitization at the household and community level.
  • Provide support to BCC coordinators in organizing orientation of front-line functionaries (sanitation workers, Swacchagrahis, local village institutions members, district and block level functionaries) to enhance their knowledge of COVID-19 prevention messages,
  • Guide and support the team in organizing Hygiene and Cleanliness competitions in the villages/Blocks to promote safe and hygienic spaces.
  • Develop detailed district level advocacy map and coordinated with various department to promote and implement Risk communication and behavioral change program reaching out to large number people.
  • Plan and organise training of front-line functionaries (sanitation workers, Swacchagrahis, local village institutions members, district and block level functionaries) to enhance their knowledge of COVID-19 prevention messages the four implementation districts
  • Contribute to advocacy and external communication work to ensure increased visibility and improved outcomes of program
  • Facilitate convergence and leverage with various programs and departments (SBM, SSA and Health and ICDS in district by organizing round tables or through district level workshop
  • In consultation with Project Manager and State WASH &Health Lead Coordinate with concerned department to introduce and implement Hygiene and Behaviors Change framework and planning in project districts, blocks and villages
  • Ensure increased access to adequate WASH facilities in target communities. This includes procurement and distribution of in-kind hygiene products to healthcare facilities, early childhood development (ECD) centers and key community spaces
  • Establishment of soap banks at critical spaces within target communities across intervention villages.
  • Prepare a plan to reach out to large number of community members and ensure regular organization of IPC sessions and promoting positive behaviors around hygiene.
  • Identify best practices and document lessons learned and share learning with relevant stakeholders.
  • Installation of foot operated hand washing stations at selected health facilities to promote hand washing with soap
  • Undertake frequent field visit across the district to gauge the progress of program, identify challenges, on site mentoring and support and record best practices and innovations
  • Management of District level Reach data
  • Carry out any other additional duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Programme Manager from time to time.

Educational requirements:

  • graduate degree in public health, water and sanitation, rural development or social sciences. 
  • Postgraduate degree/ diploma with specialization in Water and Sanitation work from recognized institute will be an advantage

Experience requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in WASH and Hygiene projects including experience of SBM program and working with education and Panchayat Raj, health ICDS department at District level.
  • Ability to establish a coherent course of action to achieve goals, ability to translate plans into actions, prioritise government engagement, monitor & review outcomes, and communicate the results clearly
  • Ability to build trust and respect among fellow team members and ability to expresses thoughts clearly, accurately and succinctly in verbal and in writing to different stakeholders to achieve program goal.
  • Must enjoy working in horizontal, cross-functional teams; needs to be comfortable dealing with ambiguity, as well as situational authority and leadership.
  • Should be capable of meeting short deadlines and producing high quality materials with a fast turnaround.
  • Solution-oriented, creative problem-solver, who can be versatile and is willing to work around obstacles.
  • Excellent computer skills in MS Office especially in MS-Word and PowerPoint along with database management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Hindi. Knowledge of other Indian regional languages will be an advantage.
