Responsibilities:
- Provide supportive supervision to District Teams implementing the pilots on grey and black water management work in the field.
- Provide insights from the implementation of the project for strengthening Water Aid’s work on grey water and faecal sludge management
- Lead and manage the project to ensure that all deliverables are met effectively within the desired timeline and with adequate quality.
- Take lead in conceptualizing and organizing state/ district level consultations /workshops / conferences as required in the project
- Coordination and supervision of the multidisciplinary team in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh to ensure execution of the project implementation plan
- Provide leadership to the discussions with the government at state and district level.
- Guide project team for conducting an institutional mapping, gap analysis and planning for scoping study/rapid assessment / baseline with specific focus on the project area.
- Support, monitor and evaluate progress and outcomes of the advocacy initiatives including establishment of strong documentation, regular reviews of activities through monthly reports and briefings
- Working with WaterAid’s communications Team (through the Regional Manager) to ensure effective documentation of the work being implemented,
- Produce high quality report to be shared with the donors and other stakeholders
- Establish and maintain excellent working relations with the concerned government departments in the districts of intervention
- Support government in tendering and contracting process with transparency and representation of all significant stakeholders
- Build collaborations and manage partnership with government departments and stakeholders contributing to the realisation of strategic objectives of project
Educational requirements:
- Post-graduation (or equivalent) qualification in one of the following areas: social sciences, civil/ environmental engineering, international development, water/natural resource management, social policy, public policy; qualifications in water, sanitation, hygiene education will be an added advantage
Experience requirements:
- Between 10 to 15 years of relevant work experience in similar organisational/functional context.
- Experience in working closely with state and district government
Desired Skills:
- Experience of working on program design, technical writing, budget development and management and rural sanitation will be an added advantage
- Sound understanding of issues pertaining to rural sanitation in India
- Exceptional communications and presentation skills, both written and oral, in English and Hindi
- Proactive and self-motivated individual capable of engaging persuasively with various stakeholders
- A self-starter, able to work independently
- Ability to travel extensively
- Prioritise set and meet deadlines
