District Project Manager – Environment and Natural Resource Management

Description: Swaniti Initiative is looking for a passionate and experienced professional who is keen on working closely with the government in catalyzing change in some of the most vulnerable communities and regions of India. The chosen candidate shall work as part of a multi-member Project Monitoring Unit (PMU) that shall work with the District Administation to plan, implement and monitor development works in underdeveloped parts of the northern region of the country. The PMU Team Lead shall focus on streamlining the overall execution of activities in collaboration with the District Administration and will be functioning under direct supervision of Swaniti Initiative ..

Responsibilities:

  • Leverage the abundant natural and forest resources of the district to formulate sustainable development plans for local communities.
  • Design projects to counteract the detrimental effects of mining related activities in the district.
  • Designing appropriate and targeted interventions for marginalized groups such as scheduled tribes, forest dwelling communities, nomadic tribes, etc.
  • Basic technical proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant computer software and technologies.

Educational requirements:

  • Graduates must have 3 years of relevant work experience whereas one who possesses a master degree will be eligible if one has 2 years of work experience.

Experience requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience undertaking social and community development/skill development projects/programs/ initiatives under Central/State/EAPs, centred around developing and executing plans for livelihood generation, marketing of NTFP, environmental conservation, etc. in forest areas and with tribal communities.
  • Candidates with experience in Environmental and Social Impact Assessment will be given preference
